Wakagangga is a villa resort at Yeh Gangga on Tabanan's southwest coast, where rice fields meet a black-sand beach. Many of the villas have a private pool, and the property also has dining and spa facilities.
This is a separate coastal base from Balian or Canggu. Check your villa category for pool details and plan outings from the actual Yeh Gangga address. A beachfront setting describes the location; it does not establish swimming conditions.
Our experience
From the moment we arrived at WakaGangga, we were struck by the resort's extraordinary setting where volcanic black sand meets the endless blue of the Indian Ocean. The gentle sound of waves against the dramatic shoreline created a mesmerizing natural symphony that went with our entire stay.
Waking up in our private pool villa to views of emerald rice terraces stretching toward distant volcanic peaks felt like stepping into a living postcard. We were particularly charmed by our early morning horseback ride along the pristine black sand beach, where we had the coastline almost entirely to ourselves as the sun painted the sky in brilliant oranges and pinks.
The best part of our stay was the afternoon we spent by our private pool, watching local farmers tend to the surrounding rice fields while occasionally glimpsing traditional ceremonies at nearby village temples. The seamless blend of luxury and authentic village life made us feel like privileged observers of Bali's timeless rhythms.
The staff's genuine warmth and intimate knowledge of local customs changed our stay from a simple vacation into a cultural trip. When they arranged for us to take part in a traditional canang-making workshop, we gained deep insights into Balinese spiritual practices that many visitors never see.
Our sunset dinner at the Waka Bar & Restaurant, with its panoramic ocean views and the sound of waves below, created magical moments that will forever define our vision of tropical paradise. The resort's ability to give complete privacy while maintaining connection to authentic Balinese village life exceeded all our expectations.
