Kintamani

Kintamani is a highland area around the Batur caldera. The main choice for a visit is between the rim viewpoints around Penelokan, the lakeside, and a guided mountain walk. You can enjoy the landscape without doing a sunrise hike.

How high is Kintamani?

Kintamani covers an area rather than one viewpoint, so its elevation varies. Mount Batur’s summit is approximately 1,717 metres above sea level; that is not the elevation of every café or hotel in Kintamani.

Day trip or overnight stay?

A day trip can focus on a viewpoint and lunch. An overnight stay may suit an early start, but check whether your accommodation is on the rim or down by the lake before arranging transport. Compare it with a base in Ubud if you want to combine several areas.

Build a relaxed route around a viewpoint, a coffee stop and time by the lake. For a hike, confirm the route, current access, guide arrangements and equipment with the operator before booking. Check hot-spring opening times and inclusions directly rather than relying on an old entry price.

A relaxed route without a sunrise hike

Start with the caldera view at Penelokan, stop for coffee along the main road, then continue down to Lake Batur if you want a second perspective. This keeps the visit focused on the landscape without committing to a summit walk. Arrange the lakeside detour with your driver before setting off.
