Cepaka
Small rice-field village in Tabanan on the Munggu road, inland between Canggu and Tanah Lot.
About Cepaka
Cepaka is for long-stay villa renters who want rice fields out the window and Canggu within reach. It's a small village in Kediri district, Tabanan, right on the border with Badung. The whole place covers about 2 square kilometres and four banjar, with a little over 2,000 people.
Jalan Raya Munggu runs through it. Follow it and you reach Munggu and then the villa belt around Pererenan and Canggu. Tanah Lot is about 7 km west as the crow flies. The airport is around 17 km away in a straight line, but by road you go through Kerobokan or Canggu, and those roads are slow for most of the day.
There's no beach. No hotel strip either. What Cepaka has is rentals, villas and houses among the paddies with rice-field views, a short ride from the coast.
The reason it's on our map is Prana Padel, a club on Jalan Raya Munggu with two indoor doubles courts, coaching and a restaurant.
Highlights of Cepaka
- Prana Padel. Two indoor courts, a ball machine and a restaurant. Open 08:00 to 23:00 every day.
- Tanah Lot. One of Bali's main sea temples, about 7 km west in Beraban. The rock is only reachable on foot at low tide, and around half a million people visit each year.
- Mekotek in Munggu. On Kuningan, ten days after Galungan, hundreds of men in neighbouring Munggu parade through the village with gamelan, lock their two-to-three-metre wooden poles together into a cone and send someone climbing up to stand on top. It dates back to the Mengwi kingdom.
Travel tips for Cepaka
- Allow over an hour from the airport. Getting to Canggu alone takes 45 minutes to over two hours depending on traffic, and Cepaka is further on.
- Go to Tanah Lot at low tide. That's the only time you can walk out to the rock.
- Dress modestly for Mekotek. Visitors are welcome to watch. The regency's own guide suggests light Balinese traditional dress for anyone watching.
Things to do in Cepaka
Play padel
Prana Padel is the only club we list in Cepaka. The courts are indoor, so rain doesn't stop play. For more options nearby, see our Pererenan padel guide.
Visit Tanah Lot
It's the obvious short trip from here. Expect crowds, souvenir stalls and clifftop restaurants around the temple.
Best time to visit Cepaka
April to September is dry. The wet season runs roughly October to April, with the heaviest rain from December to March. If you can, time a visit with Kuningan to see Mekotek in Munggu.
Details checked October 2026.
